Consultation Guidelines for Practitioners (USA)
Please Distribute to All Participants
In order for the Consultation Day to be of maximum benefit, excitement, learning and service, the following is required. By virtue of attending either a Consultation Day or Seminar the participant agrees to adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Patients:
ONLY patients who meet the following criteria will be seen:
- The patient is under the care of a trained and licensed Classical Five-Element Acupuncture practitioner who has trained a minimum of four days at clinical level with J.R. and/or J.B. Worsley.
- The patient has a complete T.D. done, a Preface Sheet prepared and available and have had a minimum of one treatment (including at minimum: AE checked and drained, Centre Pulse, Akabanis checked and corrected.)
- The patient is under the care of an unrelated practitioner and in a professional relationship ONLY with the practitioner.
- All previous J.R. or J.B. Consultation Feedback Forms must be available at the time of the consultation.
- Please ensure patients are not drinking coffee (drinking a moderate amount of tea is OK) and are drinking a minimum of unflavoured and non-carbonated water. The volume consumed should be calculated as – the body weight in pounds divided by 2 equals the number of fluid ounces minimum each day, plus 8 fluid ounces for every unit of alcohol consumed.
2. Participants
- Prerequisite for a person either bringing a patient or observing is four days of training at clinical class level with J.R. and/or J.B. Worsley. This involves working in class, diagnosing and treating patients under the JB Worsley’s supervision.
- It is the responsibility of the practitioner to inform his or her patient beforehand that there will be J.B. and up to 10 other observers present during the consultation.
- Husbands, wives, partners, children, parents and other family members do not treat, observe or participate in the related person’s treatment.
- Previous J.R. or J.B. Feedback Forms must be available.
- It is necessary for the patient’s practitioner to accompany the patient during the consultation unless there are compelling circumstances why not. It is in the best interests of the patient for the practitioner to regularly be present during the consultation of the individual. If a substitute practitioner is arranged, the primary practitioner should be the one to arrange the consultation appointment, the substitute, and the file handover, please.
- If a child (under 12) is seen for only a diagnosis then it may be arranged as half an appointment (sharing an appointment with another child or in certain cases as an added half appointment) the fee is half the usual fee charged. A Preface Sheet is required.
3. Forms:
- Copies of the Preface Sheet will be provided by the practitioner to J.B. and the observers. A Preface Sheet Checklist is for reference ONLY, as a list of content. Forms used as Preface Sheets are unacceptable. Please either type or print clearly a complete and legible Preface Sheet including all the information requested.
- J.B. will sign any prepared form confirming that the practitioners have attended either as a practitioner bringing a patient and /or as an observer.
- Please give three months’ notice if you require NCCAOM approval for PDA Points
4. Professional Dress:
As a matter of courtesy to and respect for JR, JB, colleagues and, above all, patients we would appreciate it if appropriate professional presentation was followed:
- For men; collar and tie, professional shoes, slacks minimum. A jacket even better.
- For women; appropriate skirt or slacks and jacket.
- If lab coats are used, please have clean and pressed.
- Standards of professional hygiene are essential - clean nails, hair off shoulders and immaculate grooming. Thank you!
Thank you for following these guidelines.
